We have recently introduced a new sustainable eyewear brand to our collection that is exclusive to our Towcester practice.

Entering its 10th year, FEB31st is an industry leader in sustainable manufacturing, offering more bespoke options than any other eyewear brand in the world.

FEB31ST was established in 2011 by two Italians from quite different backgrounds. Stefano Sarti Cipriani was a businessman studying Sustainable Manufacturing and through a chance meeting with an eyewear manufacturer discovered the huge amounts of waste in eyewear production. From this discovery, he knew there was a better way to create eyewear from natural materials. He was then introduced to Stefano Minelli, from the Minelli manufacturing dynasty, a well-known Italian family business who has been producing high quality wooden items for generations. Together they started their journey to become the worlds leading sustainable eyewear brand.

The wood selected for the products is from FSC approved controlled plantations or sustainable sources. Most of the wood used is Bolivar, this is a white wood and is a popular choice for the furniture industry. It is known for its fast growth and is easily replenished through approved schemes. Ancient New Zealand Kauri wood is used for their luxury collection. Tis is regarded as one of the most exotic woods in the world and is famed for its shimmering iridescence within the grain, giving a golden glow like a precious jewel.

In 2018 a devastating storm hit the Dolomites Mountain region of Italy, felling 14 million trees in one afternoon. Amongst others, FEB31ST is one company that is committed to using these fallen trees to create products and ensure the trees do not go to waste.

FEB31ST eyewear is a made to order product, ensuring there is no unnecessary production of stock and resources are not wasted. Any off cuts of wood from the manufacturing process are used to heat the factory during winter or recycled for marketing items. As the company evolves, they are looking for areas that can be improved to ensure they remain as sustainable as possible.
